Ahead of the start of the prestigious 44th Tokyo Motor Show at the end of October Subaru have made an announcement about the future of the Subaru Forester SUV. The Subaru Forester Diesel 2015 review proved very positive amongst Australian drivers and sales figures have reflected that. However, Subaru believe that it is time for an update in 2016, and there have been some interesting technology and styling developments.
Mass Kerb Appeal
Visually the new Subaru Forester Diesel now has a striking new grille framed above the revised front bumper. The new LED headlights and tail lights are sporting all new graphics. The new 17” and 18” alloy wheels are beautifully functional in their design, and they have been designed to be more aerodynamic than their predecessors were.
Upgraded Standard Equipment
There have been some significant equipment upgrades over the outgoing Subaru Forester Diesel 2015. Review the following changes for standard equipment and it is hard not to be impressed. Firstly Apple users will be pleased as there is now support for the Siri Eyes Free recognition system. Secondly in addition to the front seats, the rear seats will now have the capability to be heated. Lastly, there are now memory locations for the electric drivers seat to recall seating positions at the push of a button.
Upgraded Advanced Equipment
The top tier Subaru Forester Diesel models will have a brand new advanced headlight system. These new lights are LED models that operate on both low and high beam settings. The clever part is that they actually swivel in their mountings when responding to the driver’s steering input. Essentially this will cause the headlights to slightly bend into the corners as the driver steers through them. This greatly increases the accurate placement of the headlights thus aiding the driver’s vision and also reducing the glare for any oncoming drivers.
Other advanced equipment includes slightly thicker door glass and a revised Lineartronic CVT system, both of these improvements reduce noise levels significantly. For the turbocharged models there are: upgraded suspension settings, a reduced gearing ratio and additional active torque vectoring. The cabin has also been enhanced; upscale models will have improved leather accents as well as piano black and silver plastic detailing.
The New EyeSight System
The 3rd generation of Subaru’s EyeSight safety system has added several new functions to the already impressive system that make it even more useful for drivers. The new features include lane keeping assistance, lane change assistance, blind spot monitoring, rear cross traffic alerts, adaptive cruise control and an improvement to the pre-collision braking system.
