Have you got a trip to London coming up? If so, you’re in for a treat. London is a city comprised of several boroughs – each more wonderful than the last, meaning that you will never be short of fantastic experiences during your time in the city. However, once you have discovered the marvels of the museum district and shopped along the iconic streets of the West End, we would not be surprised to hear that the hustle and bustle of the city has started to wear you down. If you are visiting during the spring and summer months, then you’re in luck. The icy chill of winter will have worn off, meaning that you can relax and enjoy some of the serene spaces that London has to offer, rather than having to retreat to your London Hotel’s room for some quiet. Read on to discover our favourite outdoor Oases in London.
Dalston Eastern Curve Garden
Picture this – it’s a beautiful spring day and you decide to check out some of the iconic London Markets. However, when you arrive, it seems as though everybody else in the entire world had the same idea. The crowds may not be bad at first, but we imagine after around an hour you may be ready for a bit of peace and quiet. Well, we have a place for you. Instead of visiting the super-well known places like Hyde Park and Kensington Gardens to wind down, we recommend that head straight for Dalston Eastern Curve Garden. Just off the busy Dalston Junction, this charming garden is a peaceful refuge in the heart of the city. Once an old railway line, this community-run garden started with a little help from local Landscape Architects and boasts meandering paths of stunning wildflowers, along with shrubs and trees, which all lead to tranquil seating areas that promise to relax even the most stressed of minds. Following this, return to your beautiful room in the Montcalm Royal London House and take some time to make the most of the brilliant facilities.
Take a Dip in a Lido
If you are fortunate enough to be staying in one of the hotels in Central London which has Spa and Leisure facilities, we imagine you will have packed a swim-suit for the occasion. Well, your hotel isn’t the only place you can enjoy a dip in the pool – as London still has several Lidos scattered around for you to enjoy. These outdoor swimming experiences are a great way to relax, get in a little exercise and appreciate the beauty of the great outdoors. Our personal favourites are Brockwell Lido, which boasts beautiful Art Deco designs, and, of course, Tooting Bec Lido. Tooting Bec is vibrant and cheery with vintage feeling design work, that is surrounded by beautiful green spaces.
The Royal Parks
Now, we could not talk about the great outdoors in London without mentioning the beautiful Royal Parks. For the famous monuments, sculptures and fountains, you will want to head to Hyde Park. However, if you want to experience the rich natural beauty that London has to offer, we recommend Richmond Park. The largest of the 8 parks, this is home to a selection of Red and Fallow Deer, so if you’re quiet you may even be able to get close! This is the perfect spot for a day trip from your M by Montcalm hotel.
