Whether you live in London or are just visiting, the city is packed full of activities that will make even the least romantic among us smile. From walks in the park to museum tours, entertaining attractions and high-end meals, London is a hub of activity for all ages, and as such is the perfect place to design your ideal date.
(And one of the best parts of London? Unlike most of the UK, everything is open on Sundays too!)
Easy like Sunday morning
Sunday mornings are best spent lazing around, enjoying a leisurely breakfast and perhaps a stroll around the immediate area. With so many romantic stay packages, London not only boasts some excellent deals at affordable prices, but also has such a diverse range of places to stay that you will never get bored. Check out hotels with on-site spas and highly regarded eateries such as the Chilworth London Hotel, which includes some spa treatments and meal deals within its packages, and opens out into the North London area of Paddington; with its parks and quiet streets.
Get active with a city run or park walk
London is home to shops and eateries galore, but it also boasts some really excellent walks – through city life, past attractions and across the middle of some really lovely green spaces. Upon exiting one of the many Paddington Station hotels, you face one big decision. Head South towards Hyde Park where you can enjoy a walk or a run with your loved one around the Serpentine, or turn North East and find yourself in Regents Park; neighbouring ZSL London Zoo and packed full of interesting pathways and circular routes.
Go traditional with dinner and a show
One of London’s most famous attractions is the West End, with its multitude of shows, musicals and plays that bring thousands of visitors to the city every year. Sunday’s are the day for matinee and evening shows, so you can often work your day around the show you want to see, and plan a romantic lunch or dinner of your choice. The great thing about London is that public transport can literally be found around every corner, so you know you don’t have to worry about driving – leaving you able to enjoy a drink or two.
Find somewhere you’ve never been before
Despite the many thousands of visitors that head to London every day, there are still some areas that remain pretty well-kept secrets. One of our favourites is St Katherine’s Dock, which sits just minutes from the famous Tower of London and Tower Bridge, yet is always abit of a haven away from the madness of tourists. Stroll around and appreciate the incredible yachts that live in the centre of London, before heading into the Dickens Inn for lunch or a drink.
Other well-kept romantic secrets in London include the high-end St John’s Wood with its luxury cafes and parks; the Conservatory at the Barbican, and Primrose Hill – which offers some of the best views of the city from the North side of the river.
