Monsoon is mostly referred to as the season of ailment and diseases but for me, it is the best time to travel to Kerala and such destinations to the south with nature and wild. Monsoon trips to Kerala for me was a ritual that I tent to keep practising for the last 4 years this is mainly because it is during monsoon that nature and the wild are at its best. With the pollutants settling down to the earth, the sky and air clear and the forest more green the seasons is the best prepared for travellers like me who love to explore the fresh nature. Being a traveller from Bangalore rain was one thing that I missed the most. The swamps, the clay mud were all things that I love about the rainy season. My trip this year was organized to start on the 27th of May. Finding accommodation during the season was one hard thing and thus I booked a Kerala trip package which was organized by Seasonzindia. On the 27th of May, I reached the Cochin international airport by around 7 am where I met the travel operators who explained me the itinerary of the trip. It was just a 2-day trip exploring the mist hills of Munnar. Traveling for about 4 hrs I finally reached the ill station which was so fresh with morning drizzle. The cool air and the freezing climate of the hills ran through me leaving me with Goosebumps. As it was a long flight and a long drive I decided to check-in to my hotel to take a hot water bath. After the bath and having the breakfast from the hotel I decided to start my trip.
According to my itinerary, my first visit to the hills was the eco-point. The place had a unique and different name because of the natural phenomena of echoing that takes place in the hills. Eco-point is one of the must-visit destinations in Munnar for travellers who love to explore the unique features of the land. The place offered the travellers with a number of other entertainment options like boating, horse rides and more. I reached the place by around 2 pm after being in the place exploring the nature, enjoying the boating, and horse rides I moved to my next destination of the day. The climate at the eco-point was very romantic and cool. Filled with mist the roads were barely visible to the driver. With slight drizzles, the monsoon in Munnar was making my trip more memorable and perfect. After driving for another 45 min, I reached the next destination the Munnar tea museum. The tea museum in Munnar was one most explored travel destination in the hills. The place housed a number of tea verities with different qualities and tastes. At the place, they explained, about the different methods in which the tea leaves are fermented to make different verities of tea. They also offered us some of the best tea varieties to taste. Just below the tea museum they also housed a store which sold fresh tea leaves and homemade chocolates. As the cost of the chocolate was too high so I decided to carry some tea leaves back home. By the time I finished exploring the museum, it was already evening and I had no much time left to explore the other travel destinations in the land for the day. After buying the tea leaves I decided to get back to the hotel room to get some rest. On the way back to the hotel I pulled over to take some fascinating picture of the tea plantations covered in mist and the misty clouds.
It was my last day in Munnar and unfortunately, my alarm went off and I didn’t know the time. By the time I opened my eyes, it was already 10 am, after refreshing fast, and I got down to the cafeteria to have the breakfast after which I checked out of the hotel to explore my last travel destination in Munnar, the top station. One thing that attracted me the most to explore the top station was the pictures of the hills and the place surrounding. Covered in clouded mist the top station was a literal heaven. Reaching to the place was a bit difficult as it was a ride of about 1.30 hrs. By around 1.30 I reached the top station, being a monsoon season it was drizzling but I decided to get wet in the cold. Trekking to the viewpoint at the top station is one hard especially for people like me who are not much into walking. After trekking afo5r about an hour I finally got down to the viewpoint. Even though the place was almost covered in misty clouds it had its own beauty that fascinated and attracted me to a greater extent. After enquiring with the watcher of the place I got to know that it would take long before the mist to shift. In addition, it was drizzling which would make it even harder. After being in the viewpoint for a while I decided to get back to the cab to drive back home. Climbing back from the viewpoint was one hectic task and the mist made it even harder. After taking great effort I finally reached the cab which took me straight back to the Cochin international airport. After waving farewell to the travel guide cum driver who accompanied me throughout the trip I walked into the airport.
The monsoon trip that I planned to explore the hills was one of the best I enjoyed in my life. The best climate and fascinating greenery was all thing that greeted me in Munnar. After returning back home all I could think of was about planning another tour to Kerala which this time would be a 3 day trip with friends to explore the wild in the land. With all the beauty of the nature and great potential for travel and tourism, Kerala is one best tourist state that houses the capability to satisfy the need of any traveller visiting the land.
