Norton 360 (Norton 360) is a Symantec company issued a set of “all-in-one” (all-in-one) PC security software. The software includes a personal firewall and is able to perform phishing protection and detection and removal of malicious software. This software adds backup and computer maintenance features to Norton Internet Security.
This software can now be purchased, packaged or acquired in the OEM software of the computer after purchase. In addition to the functions of the original software, parental monitoring, spam filtering and other functions can be downloaded as an extension kit for free on the Internet after purchasing the original software. The main competition for this software is Microsoft’s Windows Live One-care and McAfee’s “Total Protection” suite.
Early History of Norton 360
In February 2006, Symantec announced the Project Genesis (Genesis program). Genesis was designed with a vision that it will be different from other Symantec user security products, including file backup and computer maintenance tools, as well as antivirus capabilities and a firewall. The protection of phishing and real-time inspiration are also planned. Not only this, compatibility with Windows Vista is also a major aspect of Genesis.
However, in May 2006, Genesis was renamed Norton 360. Its functionality has also been confirmed – it will have the same features as Norton Internet Security, plus file backup, computer maintenance, phishing protection, and real-time inspiration & Norton remote services. A public beta is also scheduled for release in the summer of 2006. The final release date is also set at the end of 2006.
But out of nowhere, McAfee announced Falcon, a security suite with similar features to Norton 360 and OneCare. OneCare was launched in the summer of 2006, and Falcon also entered the open beta test.
Many people think that Norton 360 Support is used to respond to Microsoft’s anti-virus software (OneCare). However, with the release of OneCare, some people think Symantec is behind its competitors. Mark Bergman, vice president of Symantec, claims that the upcoming Norton 360 is not intended to compete with OneCare.
And finally the day came; it was February 26, 2007, the version1.0 was released, later on, other versions also got delivered by Symantec and version 3.0 is the latest among them.
