With so much to do in London, where can you really begin? Do you look for the best Barbican restaurants London and enjoy fine dining in the City? Or do you frequent bars and pubs and see what the locals are up to? Take in a show? A cinema? The casino? There’s so much to do. However, after you’ve taken them all in, you might find something missing. And that’s an element of mystery, of intrigue, something which even a Jack the Ripper tour won’t sate. It’s an escape room, of course.
What are escape rooms?
Just like a spa hotel London City is a luxurious hotel in the City of London, an Escape Room also follows suit by meaning exactly what it says. It’s a room to escape from. But don’t worry, it’s not like you’ll be chained up like you’re in Saw. No. These activities have been getting more and more popular over the years, providing entertainment for loads of people. The idea behind it is that you and a group of friends are locked inside a room. You have a given amount of time to uncover clues that will help you unlock the room…and escape!
At first when the escape rooms started out it was just a case of escaping a room. Now, there are different themed rooms, giving you something new to experience each time. Many rooms also have their own stories, making it perfect for friends, family or special events such as corporate days out or hen and stag dos.
But which is the best one?
In our opinion, that award goes to ClueQuest. It gives you the chance to escape from your hotel London City and become a superspy to rival James Bond. There are different missions to choose from, including Plan52, Operation BlackSheep, Revenge of the Sheep and cQ ORIGENES. You can even get some practise in by trying out their virtual reality escape games. Even though these are mega fun, nothing beats the real thing.
What do you do?
First of all you need to pick which mission you and your friends are going to take on. Mr Q is the leader of the escape room, while Professor Blacksheep is the villain, and the one whose traps you need to overcome. Once you are in your room, you and up to four other people have one hour to escape the room. This is when teamwork is of the utmost importance. There are different rounds for you to solve, different things for you to find and each one has a story for you to get lost in. Word of advice – make sure you check every single thing. Don’t leave any stone unturned and don’t forget the obvious. Sometimes a key for one of the padlocks could be right in front of you. As long as you establish a good problem-solving strategy amongst your team and all work together, you should be able to solve the escape room and take a cheesy picture afterwards to post on your Facebook!
