Netgear Nighthawk Extender Setup Process

Power On the Extender

First and foremost, plug your range extender into a wall socket.

Then, press the Power button.

Now, wait for the power LED light to become solid green.
Do – Ensure that the wall socket is working properly. If it isn’t, then either get it fixed or plug your WiFi device into another electric socket.
Don’t – Do not proceed further until and unless the power LED light turns green. The reason being, a blinking power LED tells that there’s something wrong with the hardware.

Connect Your Extender to the Router

The next step in line is to connect your Nighthawk extender with the router.

You can either connect both the WiFi devices using a wireless source or a cable.

Next, place your extender in the same room as that of the WiFi router.
Do – If you are using a cable to connect the extender and router, then make sure it is damage-free.
Don’t – Do not keep your Netgear extender near transmitting appliances, electronic devices, and metal objects. The reason being, devices like these might cause unwanted issues during the process of Netgear Nighthawk setup

Download the Nighthawk App

Unlock your mobile device and open Google Play Store if you use an Android.

In case of an iOS or Apple device, open the App Store.

Then, search for the Netgear Nighthawk app and download it.
Do – Wait for the Netgear Nighthawk app to get properly installed on your device.
Don’t – If you are planning to download the Nighthawk App for PC, then let me tell you that there isn’t any way to do that. So, don’t even try making the impossible possible.

Log Into Your Netgear Extender

After the Netgear Nighthawk app gets installed properly, tap on the Create Netgear Account option.

Enter the default login details of your Nighthawk extender and hit Log In.

The Netgear Genie Setup Wizard will appear.

Now, follow the on-screen instructions to finish setting up your Netgear Nighthawk extender.
Do – If you aren’t sure about the default login credentials, then it is recommended that you take reference from the Netgear manual that came along with your extender.
Don’t – Do not perform any background activities while setting up your WiFi device.
