How to fix Brother Printer’s status Offline or Paused for Mac?
When talking about the modernized printer with the latest models and affordable price, very first name which stuck on mind is Brother Printer.
Usually, it works brilliantly but sometimes the user may face certain errors like Brother Printer’s status Offline or Paused for Mac, so try the following steps as given below to solve the issues-

Check whether the Brother machine is powered on
- If the Brother machine’s display or LCD is showing blank then probably the Brother machine isn’t powered on or is in the sleeping mode. If it still remains same then check whether it is plugged into a working outlet and the switches is turned on.
- You need to check the LCD screen for any error messages. If the LCD screen shows an error then contact Brother Printer Support team to get assistance from the technician.

Make sure your Brother system is the default printer
Unless and until Brother Printer driver is set as ‘default printer’, you can’t print. So, make sure you set it as default printer. Follow the steps to make it as a default Brother Printer –
- Open your Mac book.
- Click on the option ‘ Apple Menu’
- Choose ‘System Preferences …’
- Select the option ‘ Print & Fax’ followed by ‘Print & Scan or Printers & Scanners’
- Choose ‘Default Printer’ from the pull-down menu.

Delete all the Brother Printer Jobs
- Open your Mac book.
- Click on the option ‘Apple menu’.
- Choose the ‘System Preferences.’
- Select the option ‘Print & Fax’ followed by ‘Print & Scan or Printers & Scanners’.
- Choose your preferred Brother Printer’s model.
- Click on the option ‘Open Print Queue.’
- Choose the print job and delete.

You need to check the Brother Printer status
To check the Brother Printer status, follow the steps-
- Select the Brother Machine’s icon
- Click on the option ‘Open Print Queue…’ and check the Brother Printer status.
- Select the option ‘Resume or Resume Printer’ icon
Tips- The ‘Resume or Resume Printer’ icon which is surrounded by red lines displays while printing. Mostly when the Brother Printer is run out of paper or the printer is turned off/on.
If you can’t connect Brother Printer via USB cable then the error message “The Brother Printer isn’t connected or Offline’ is pop-up on ‘Print Queue’ and the reason behind is that the USB cable is disconnected or the Brother Printer is turned off.
