Breezy sundresses are certainly a favourite but when the weather takes a turn for the worse, we just want to bundle ourselves up as much as possible. Unfortunately for most of us, this just means looking like a frumpy walking ball of clothing- fashion be damned. There are steps you can take, however, to turn this around. Styling, even during the coldest of days, is entirely possible. Here are some fashion tips to styling in cold weather.
You need to experiment with your layering to find out what works for your figure. Some basic outfits include tights under your jeans, turtlenecks under women wool jumpers, topped over by a coat or jacket and a scarf around the neck. If you’re more of a dress person, this cold weather doesn’t mean you have to stop wearing them! Be sneaky and wear pants underneath your skirt and it will do just as great a job at keeping you warm.

Boots are the epitome of winter fashion. Over-the-knee boots are eye-catching and do a remarkable job of adding a seductive accentuation to your figure. They work well with shorter dresses, so if the weather allows it, this is a definite show stopper. Else, you can go for a classic look entailing ankle boots paired with cuffed jeans or a longer dress!
If you feel like your wardrobe is getting quite boring, a solution to spicing things up is belting your coats. Having them cinched at the waist will give your outfit an almost brand new, chic feel and it also does wonders in bringing about more accentuation to your figure if you’re not one for puffy items of clothing.
If the weather takes a turn for the worse, you can pull out the staple that can only be used in this time of the year- faux fur. Be it a fur vest, collars or mittens, they are all statement pieces of their own and grab a lot of attention. These items are synonymous with the high class and chic fashionistas so if you’re looking to upgrade any of your outfits, this is the step for you.
While boots and fur coats are all very well, hats are probably the first thing people will notice about you- so you might as well make it count. Go for a quirky winter cap that will balance out a neutral shaded outfit.
Scarfs allow you to bring a rich, pop of colour to an otherwise quite boring outfit. Don’t be afraid to experiment with your scarves, they don’t necessarily have to be worn around your neck! You can also wrap them around your head, use it as a belt or even have it tied around your shoulders.
You can always bring out the heavy statement pieces with your outfits but be careful when wearing dangly earrings- they tend to get stuck on the clothing. opt for studs instead.
