There are few household items that are very important such as the bed mattress, and yet you do not realize that you need a new one so your back will suffer from chronic pain or even feel the difference when you sleep in a big hotel or a friend who really care about having a healthy type of sleep. Today we will have an introduction to the memory foam mattresses, one item beloved by all for a good bed time sleep.
Foam mattress is one of the important discoveries in recent years of bedding, sponge mattresses and spring sponge mattresses linked to modern mattress, traditional no special sensitivity to temperatures, nor foam mattresses full support shape curves have improved in recent years. With the technology of cooling memory foam it’s now become the most common and popular type of mattress, and there are many features along the way that help determine what kind of memory foam will end up with to understand exactly what variations are present in each final product, and market researchers admitted that the cooling foam mattress is taking a part in the last 5 years market size. It is the preferred number one choice in the younger couples’ life.
What is the foam mattress memory? The foam mattress memory, with the slow and gentle mattress foam rebound characteristics reducing the need to toss and turn in bed, improves the high quality of sleep. The memory foam recovery is different from traditional sponge, memory foam recovery slow previously exposed to any different material of your sponge. According to the temperature change or distortion of the body, when the surface of the rebound is slow, and pressing on it will not rebound until evenly spread all the pressure, as well as strong pressure stops, it will slowly restore to the original shape.
The origin of memory foam began early 1970s when the NASA Ames Research Center dedicated a significant fund to a project that aims to create a material tohelp ease astronauts from the intense gravitational forces they experience during the lift. The research team believed that in order to reduce the gravitational forces on the astronaut’s body, a foam-like material is required such that it shapes itself to the body of the user and adapts to his/her movements accordingly. Although a simple foam mold was suggested as an option, it would not have been able to adapt to the person’s movements and will easily go out-of-shape applying high pressure on incorrect points of the astronaut’s body. Hence, the new memory foam was developed to be elastic, flexible and of high viscosity, such that it takes the shape of the user but returns back to its original structure as soon as body pressure is no longer applied. In other words, this foam is capable of evenly distributing body weight across the complete surface area of the foam and hence, is able to reshape itself according to the body movements.
This remarkable discovery motivated one of the largest foam manufacturers in Europe, the Swedish company Fagerdala World Foams,to begin their experiments in 1980-1989, in order to optimize it for their consumers. In 1991, the company was able to introduce these materials into the Swedish market as a commercial foam mattress to be tested by the customers, who provided positive feedback on this new product. On the other hand, North American customers were granted the same product in 1992 by Tempur-Pedic and had the similar positive feedback on their experience with these new mattresses.
The success of these memory foam mattresses in North America further motivated competitors in the mattress industry in Canada and the US to begin their own product lines by developing new flexible memory foam materials and introduce them into their mattresses’ structure, along with further enhancements such as a cooling memory foam. This competition allowed a large variety of memory foam mattresses into the market, which thereby provided the customers with a wide range of options to choose from, on a large scale of pricing.
