KTAB TV is known to be a CBS affiliate TV channel which is licensed to Abilene Texas. The channel is an entity of Nexstar Media Group, and its studios are situated in Western Abilene on South 14th street. It has a sibling station KRBC-TV owned by Mission Broadcasting (which is operated by Nexstar Media though); both stations share the same studio. In 1979, the channel was created, and it aired the first show about thirty-nine years ago. The call signs meaning of the station is “Texas Abilene” or “Keeping TAB on Abilene and the Big Country”.
KTAB TV Abilene is recognized to be a home of local news, sports and weather updates, KTAB 4U, lifestyle stories, community events and many more.
On Oct 6, 1979, the channel began the transmission and Abilene enlisted as one of the last country’s markets who are services entirely by the three big networks. The owner of the channel was Terry, and he handled KRBC-TV for many years. The channel was bought by International Broadcasting from Terry in 1984.
The channel was bought by Roy E. Disney’s Broadcasting company and Shamrock Broadcasting in 1986; after one whole year, Shamrock sold the channel to Shooting Star Broadcasting in 1997. After that in 1999, Nexstar Media Group bought the channel and still owns it. Nexstar Media took over the channel with KRBC. In May 2007, both stations KRBS and KTAB-TV combined the studios. In 2014, the other digital channel such as Telemundo developed. Watch Live Streaming of KTAB-TV News here.
