NEET PG 2019 to be Re-conducted Again for J&K Students
The National Board of Examination (NBE) has announced to re-conduct NEET PG for the aspirants of Jammu and Kashmir. NBE is an autonomous organization of the Ministry of Health which conducts the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test-Post Graduate for admission to various medical postgraduate courses across the country. This decision has been taken after taking into consideration the inclement weather conditions in Jammu and Kashmir due to which most of the students were unable to appear for the examination.
The computer-based NEET PG exam was conducted on 6th January 2019 i.e. Sunday. It was conducted for more than 1, 48,000 candidates in 165 cities across the country. NBE allotted various centers in the Jammu and Kashmir for the exam but most of the students were unable to reach their designated centers due to poor weather conditions.
As per the reports, January 5 recorded one of the heaviest snowfalls in the state which led to the blockage of the road and air transport. The students were not able to reach their exam centers. The minimum temperature recorded in Srinagar on 5th Jan was -1.2 degree Celsius. The snowfall started on 5th Jan and continued till 6th Jan 2019.
So, looking at the conditions in the state, NBE took the matter seriously and put forward the matter in front of the Health Ministry, Medical Council of India and Government of Jammu and Kashmir. After all the discussions, it was decided that all the affected students of the state will be given an opportunity to appear for NEET PG 2019 exam.
The official statement of Union Health Ministry said that “NBE is committed to providing an opportunity to all the affected students of the state who were unable to make it to the exam center due to road and air transport blockages”. The statement further said that a separate NEET PG exam will be conducted for all such students. However, NBE has not announced the dates and venue of the exam yet. The statement said that all the details about the date, time and venue of the separate NEET PG exam will be communicated very soon.
As NEET-PG is a national level exam, so NBE is taking all possible steps to maintain the sanctity of the examination. The decision has created hope among the students who were affected by the bad weather conditions in the state. If this change would not have been given to the students, they would have missed a golden chance without any mistake.
