What would you do to get something you have always longed for. A desire that fills up the vacant spaces of your life and dreams. Something that has always been on your list and you have always fantasized about. We all have one. The desire changes and gets matured with time for some but for me a Play Station has always been on my wish-come-true list since I can remember. Ever since I was 7 and hasn’t moved from its place on my list, a decade later. Games have always been an inseparable part of everyone’s life. Some have grown up, some defy convention and for some it is more of an obsession. Play Station has always been gaming personified. Gaming has been taken to new levels by PS and their consoles redefine logic and evolve with every edition. I could go writing a thesis about Play Station like an obsessed lover, but hey the interesting part is how I finally got my hands on my first PS.
At the age of 17 after slogging hard at the gas station, servicing bullbars in Brisbane, during the day, and working in shifts at a local grocery, I was barely able to save enough after paying my bills for a decent living. But the dream was gradually growing in intensity. I started hallucinating about a PS and whenever I crossed a game parlor, the owners would inadvertently close the shop because of my reputation for being able to gaze at the gaming consoles non-stop hours after hours. One day as I was surfing through the Internet, I found a very interesting advertisement. “A sports professional requires a helping hand, young males wanted preferably with sports oriented background on a part time basis.” I called at the contact address with a view to earn some extra cash on an off day. What lay in store for me is absolutely un-imaginable.
A sturdy and stout, well built man who happened to be a boxer by profession required a helping hand or rather a practice opponent for himself to train better for an upcoming boxing tourney. So began the saga. After surviving a week long training sessions of 2-3 hours everyday of bone rattling, skin scathing and preposterous change in facial geography, of dynamic bouts, more or less like a punching bag unable to retaliate sometimes out of fear and most of the times out of sheer incapability to match upto the skills of my opponent, I got paid a good amount by the gentleman who seemed to be as kind with his money as he was with his punches. My endurance paid off and this is how I got the money to afford my first PS 3. What about you? What would you do to get your first ?
