These plants have 3 sets of pipes. First, when the water is flushed or drainage of the waste water happens from domestic or commercial buildings, it reaches the local sewers which are managed by the local sewers team of the town. These local sewers transfer the sewage to interceptor sewers, ranging from 8 inches to 11 feet in diameter. These are then transferred to MWRA sewers.
