Technology may make our lives better. However, the government is also using them for their purposes, including the spying. We would like to enlighten this interesting topic, even though it sounds a bit crazy. Here is a list of scary modern technologies that can be scary.
We will not see devices that can destroy the entire world, or be a serious threat to our society. However, we have some interesting things for your attention.
1. Hearing Voices at the Store
There is a specially developed technology – made by a company Holosonics – the Audio Spotlight system. Everything you need to know that such technology uses ultrasonic frequencies on the highest level for human’s ear. The perfect form to advertise any product, and you will buy it – no matter what.
The war – is the most terrifying and awful thing in the world. Due to the modern technological progress, we have a new kind of war – even more dangerous – the CyberWar. The cyberattacks became the most popular activity among international terrorists, and it is harder to protect servers. Viruses, Trojans, or malware – are the most famous tools to start the attack. So, do not think you are not in danger – get an anti-virus software now!
A simple quadrocopter can be a toy for your kids – or a weapon for your government. The first beta-versions of quadrocopters (or so-called drones) were used during the military operations in Iraq, 2001. It was a progressive technology that could collect data around the area without being spotted. Now, you enjoy the same technology in your backyard.
4. Driverless Car
Google has presented their first version of a driverless car. It is an autonomous vehicle that promises to steer clear of accidents and keep traffic flowing smoothly via algorithm. The biggest concern about this modern technology is that it has no software glitches, but a simple transition from robot mode to human mode. It is still in beta-test, but we know how fast Google can finish their idea, and the next moment we see – it is already on the market.
5. Internet Surveillance
Edward Snowden made a huge action by revealing how the government uses the data from the internet. Every e-mail that was sent through Gmail, every spreadsheet saved in Google Docs, or conversation in Hangouts – is stored in the cloud – but it is not so encrypted and protected as we thought. The massive demonstrations and worldwide reactions were huge, and it made people re-think about the internet, as a protected, good environment.
In the end, we would like to point out how serious modern technology progress is, and we cannot avoid it no matter what. In some way, it only makes our lives better and improves the daily activities. For instance, MIT students already created a headset that can ‘hear’ your thoughts and respond. Now, you can control a computer without words (before it started to control you, ha-ha).
