The guitar is used in nearly every song sung by not only famous music bands and artists but also those learning to become a musician or singer. Guitars are very simple music instrument featuring a wooden frame with six strings attached to it. Strings are an integral component of the guitar which produces sound when played. The type of guitar strings depends on the type of guitar you have or play. The three basic types of guitars are acoustic, electric and bass.

Selecting a right guitar string is very important if you are enthusiastic about playing the instrument as every string type gives different feel and response. Classical guitar strings are strings used on classical guitars. A classical guitar is also known as Spanish guitar, nylon string guitar, and classic acoustic guitar. It is a wooden guitar with strings made from nylon rather than metal strings which are mostly used in acoustic and electric guitars. The name classical guitar has two meanings
- It is the genre of music which is produced from the guitar; or
- The finger technique used to play the guitar, the strings are individually strummed with the fingernails
Traditionally the strings used in classical guitars were made of animal intestine referred to as gut and silk, but modern ones are made from a polymer such as nylon. The three treble strings are made from single nylon filament while the three bass strings are fine nylon filaments wound together by either by copper wire or silver plated bronze.
The three factors a person need to consider why buying classical guitar strings are
- String material:
The treble nylon guitar strings are made from rectified nylon. Clear strings are extruded and calibrated for accuracy while rectified nylon strings are extruded and then ground to play a delightful tune. Treble strings had a fine roughness of texture and made from carbon fiber and composite materials.
The strings used in classical guitars are made for different tensions. The three main tension categories are light or moderate, medium or standard, and hard or high tension
- Quality of manufacturing
The strings should be made from high quality to hold up well when played and be in sync rather than be out of tune.
A person should select the strings which suit him/her the best and are easy to play and practice.
