The New Age Sarees Of Indian Women!
Gone are the days when saree meant only the finest of silk weaves. Sure, a kanjeevaram, a paithani or a Dhakai jamdani is still a prized and coveted possession of the Indian bride but dig a bit deeper and you shall find plenty of new age fabrics making an easy way to an experimental fashionista’s trousseau!
As the bridal season is knocking on the door and sarees are the obvious prime choice to celebrate traditional Indian joyous festivals with pomp and luxury, let us explore the scope of varied styles of saree. The ancient drapes have been subjected to plenty of innovative ideas and been making comebacks with stunning statements in every season! For this year, we are placing our baits on Chiffon and velvet material studded with unique designs!
For marriage, the Lehenga Sarees are usual favourite among the young stars. The twirl of a lehenga is beautiful. The complementary drape of a saree or dupatta just adds to the celebratory vibe! Lehenga Sarees can be paired with many other style statements: an ethnic jacket for example or a lacey blouse which will amplify the bridal neckpiece!
Needless to say, to create a chic style look, you need to choose your jewellery with care! While an elaborate Lehenga saree has ample scope for heavy stone work jewellery, a chiffon saree calls for minimal jewellery. A simple platinum chain merges seamlessly with a chiffon saree clad attire and brings out the grace and elegance of a classy lady!
Chiffon saree may not be the best bait for a night party during wedding, however assign at least one morning event for the chiffon saree! It compliments the curvy Indian ladies perfectly. While I mostly drool over the chiffon that Deepika wore in Lungi dance a few years back, I also love the pastel colored chiffon sarees that bring out the best in a woman! Be it the fine prints or be it the soothing color, a chiffon saree is bound to push your wedding looks to a new height with added glamour and elegance!
In the tug of war between lehenga saree and the chiffon saree, we forgot to mention the newest trend of the hour: the velvet sarees! Yes, you may think what’s the point of bringing back the age old style statement? Velvet sarees are a thing of the past and a favourite of the times of Madhubala’s!
However, behold the style statement the new age designers are creating with the velvet saree! The comparatively heavy fabric calls for a stable drape and hence makes space for elaborate exquisite stone work or patch work designs! My all time favourite is a velvet saree in navy blue color with stone work embedded on the Pallu! What is your style?
