New Year’s Day Parade:
With more than half a million spectators and over 8,000 participants with a worldwide TV audience the New Year’s Day Parade is among the biggest and most awaited annual events on the London social calendar. It kicks off at 12 pm from Green Park tube station passes through Piccadilly Circus and Trafalgar Square and winds up at Parliament Square by about 3:30 pm. With historic vehicles, confetti, live music, marching bands and cheerleaders it could not get any better!
New Year’s Day Gala:
Kick off the New Year with a blast at the New Year’s Day Gala held at the Barbican Centre. A musical fiesta it will feature classics of the likes of Rule Britannia, Nessun Dorma, Land of Hope and Glory performed by the London Concert Orchestra, Conductor Anthony Inglis, Soprano Sky Ingram and Tenor A.J. Edwards. After the event enjoy a cocktail or two at the bar.
New Year’s Day Ceilidh:
Get off to a folksy start by enjoying a Ceilidh session this New Year’s Day with a visit to the Clore Ballroom at the Royal Festival Centre in the Southbank Centre. There will be dance, music and theatrical performances by artists from across the globe in collaboration with the Ceilidh Liberation Front. The organisation promotes and preserves the Celtic tradition of ceilidh.
Christmas at Kew Gardens:
While Christmas may be well and truly over you still could celebrate the event with a visit to one of the West End’s biggest draws Christmas at Kew Gardens for a grand finale to the festivities. With a variety of colourful projections, a Fire Garden, radiant buildings and plants it is a fabulous event to be a part of. Santa will be in attendance with his merry elves for the day, to meet the little ones and the grownups can enjoy mulled wine, festive snacks and great shopping.
Christmas by the River:
You could begin the New Year with a visit to the Christmas by the River market located in London Bridge City. There are spectacular views of Tower Bridge, The Tower of London and HMS Belfast. With plenty of pop-up stalls servings a variety of craft beer, mulled wine, warm cider and amazing cocktails, you could have a boozy start to the New Year.
