There are a few things to look for when selecting a company for tree removal in Perth. With all the substandard tradesmen passing themselves off as “experts” these days, you can never be too careful when making your selection.
Below are a few pointers that will help you select the right one and make sure you are get what you pay for.
Do they know their stuff?
Any tree removal expert in Perth who is worth their weight, should be able to tell you a few informative things about your tree during the quoting appointment. As a minimum they should know the common name and Latin name of your tree.
There is a chance that you may have a very rare tree that they don’t know the name(s) of, but it should be a fare assumption they would know the tree species.
Next they should be able to tell a bit about the tree, how they will be removing it, tools used, number of crew etc. At this point they need to be confident in exactly how they are going to remove the tree, if you are going to have confidence in them to do a good job.
Failing to share anything useful about the tree should ring alarm bells that tells you this guy doesn’t know what they are talking about.
Documentation and Professionalism
TreeremovalPerth as industry, is a bit of a funny one. It’s teeming with unqualified ‘cowboys’ who really don’t know that they’re doing. This can lead to damaged trees, personal property or possible injury/ death of the workers themselves. So getting the documentation right during the quoting process is vital to ensuring you’re actually getting a qualified arborist and not a fly-by-night business.
The 2 documents you need are:
Public Liability Insurance (minimum 1 million cover)
Certificate in Arboriculture
Without the above, there is no way of knowing who you are getting. Once you have the documents, be sure to place a 2 minute call to the insurer to make sure their payments are up to date and they are currently covered.
The quote itself. If you ever get handed a quote on the back of a business card, I wouldn’t bother with them. If they are not serious enough about their business to write you up a proper quotation, I wouldn’t expect too much from them in the quality department.
Equipment and Clobber
The tree industry as a whole is pretty dam dirty. Tree removal experts in Perth WA are working with chainsaws, petrol, grease, sap and all sorts of other filth, so you can’t expect a well -dressed business man, but you need to expect some sort of professionalism.
It’s always a good idea to look at equipment. If your prospective contractor has just rolled up in a beaten up Ute, with a coat hanger for an aerial and a mismatched panel or two, you could be in trouble. This does not scream professionalism and I would keep looking.
This is a big one. Everybody knows what it’s like to try and get a tradesman out to your house to fix something. For some reason they are notorious for not returning calls and in general having bad communication.
If you are not worth their time, then maybe they should not be worth yours. We all know things can happen, but if some says they will be there to quote the job at a certain hour, but don’t bother to turn up or even call to tell you that they might be running a little late, be sure to give them a miss!
I hope the above helps you when it comes to finding the right tree lopper for the job.
