What Is Borneo Kratom
As one of the most biodiverse places on the planet, it’s no surprise that Borneo has also become home to a handful of Kratom strains. While Kratom did not originate in Borneo, the big Island has produced the right product that many people prefer today. Products like Red Borneo Kratom or White Vein Borneo Kratom are among the most common varieties.
Borneo is more than just Kratom crops, though. Did you know that Borneo is the world’s third-largest Island and also one of the oldest (~130 million)? Borneo itself is not necessarily considered a country. It’s administered by three countries – Malaysia, Indonesia, & Brunei. It’s also about 50% covered by rainforest and produces half of the world’s timber. As a whole, Indonesia is experiencing quite a loss of natural rainforest, faster than any other country to date. Our favorite fun fact: Aside from Sumatra, it’s the only other place where Orangutans inhabit! It was also primarily known as the hot spot for rubber and palm oil for years, but the demand for both of these products has decreased significantly over time.
It’s quite an exciting island, with over 15,000 plant species, but our main focus today, of course, is on the Mitragyna Speciosa tree; which we’re able to create Red Borneo Kratom from for example.
Why Borneo Kratom?
Very similar to Maeng Da Kratom in Thailand, Red Borneo Kratom or White Borneo Kratom can be grown and harvested here due to the ideal conditions and guaranteed effective soil. Proper nitrogen-rich soil is one of the most important things, and this rainforest allows the plants to flourish. It’s also an excellent business for farmers to be in — It’s a sustainable option, as these Kratom plants grow naturally in Borneo’s wild. There’s no need to clear any jungle for production to be successful, making it very convenient for the native workers!
Because this massive Island experiences a variety of climates, it can produce a wider variety of leaves that have different characteristics. Historically, Red Borneo Kratom has been most desired as a form of pain relief. That benefit is more apparent in this strain than any other Kratom types, like Indo or Bali strains, for example.
How is Borneo Kratom Powder Created?
In many cases, strains like White Vein Borneo Kratom are ground into powder form once they’ve been shipped from the Island. This makes it much easier on the farmers, as all required is harvesting and drying the leaves. Timing is still very much a factor in harvesting — farmers need to wait until just the right time to ensure we’re getting the exact product we want. Please do not be mistaken; it’s still an intricate process to provide the best outcome!
Like the next steps with all other strains, once the dried leaves are received, they’re destemmed and then ground in mass quantities to create the desired powder we sell today.
